Matt Pritchard

Dr Matt Pritchard spent twenty years in UK Government in roles spanning analysis, operational leadership, policy, comms and strategy. He was Head of Strategy and Futures for a global department of 11,000 and delivered masterclasses for other government departments on translating horizon scanning into actionable options for senior decision-makers and prepositioning organisations to deliver maximum value. He has advised various Cabinet ministers and senior boards and was a member of several UK Government advisory and working groups relating to adaptation, resilience, strategy and skills.

 

Matt was then a management consultant at Baringa Partners, where he was a Director in Sustainability and Co-Lead of the Nature Practice across biodiversity, food and water. He also advised clients in multiple sectors on sustainability strategy and climate resilience. 

 

Alongside consulting work, Matt is Co-Lead of the Nature-Centric Catalyst hosted by the University of Reading, where he is publishing on how to grow nature connectedness and on forms of governance that could address the polycrisis. From early 2026 he will be Principal Investigator for the DeepSym project, supported by an award from the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation, which will examine how (if at all) the worlds of multispecies intelligences and artificial intelligence might come together, particularly in the context of organisational capability and design.

 

Matt has BA and MPhil degrees in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and a DPhil in Science and Religion from the University of Oxford. He was also a Policy Fellow at the University of Cambridge exploring the systems challenges across climate and nature policies.
